The Dunchurch Band

When did you start playing?

I started playing when I was 12 years old, when I started to attend Dunchurch Junior Band. My younger sister, Lisa had started with the junior band some time before and I used to sit outside in the car with my Dad waiting for her to finish on a Saturday morning. In the end I got fed up waiting outside and decided I might as well have a go at learning an instrument as sit in the car. Started off on a battered baby Euph I called Albert.

Banding/Musical experience:

I have been playing with Dunchurch Band for over 30 years now.

Favourite banding highlight(s):

Playing at Napton Village (where I lived as a child) with my sister and my Dad in the Band.
I am fortunate just now as both my son and daughter play in the band and I feel lucky to share a hobby with my children.
Winning 2nd Section Area contest in 1989 and then going down to London for the finals.

Other hobbies and interests:

Painting, Drawing, Decoupage, Patchwork, Sewing, Reading.
Two lovely Springer Spaniels Dogs that I enjoy taking to the woods.
Enjoy listening to and going to see perform my son’s Rock Band, ‘Trip To The Sun’.
