Toured Denmark with Rugby Salvation Army Band in 1954 on solo cornet (we travelled from Ostende through Belgium, Holland and Germany to Denmark, playing concerts in each country).
Played trumpet in Coventry Orchestra, then Warwickshire Symphony Orchestra (my dad on French Horn). I replaced my Father as SA Bandmaster in 1970 but missed playing too much.
I then moved to Northampton with a young family and joined Northampton Symphony Orchestra as Principal Trumpet. I also led Northampton Brass Ensemble for 10 years (8-10 piece group).
While in Northampton I taught a number of young trumpeters, and passed grade 8 in my late 40s (on the same day as one of my pupils).
On moving to Rugby Val and I formed A Tempo, a 6-piece Jazz band and we play regular gigs. I have also played in Rugby Theatre Orchestra, and Rugby Rococo Orchestra.
Cornet in Rugby Salvation Army Junior Band aged 6.
Joined Senior Band aged 12. Became Principal aged 17.
Playing "Country Scene" - any time, any where.
Joining Dunchurch Band fairly recently (thanks to my good friend Colin Norton) and I am happy playing flugel horn.
I have also made a number of new friends.
