Solo Horn - Wes Howard

When did you start playing?

1943 Began to learn cornet aged 8 and played in first senior band aged 9.

Banding/Musical experience:

1944 Birmingham Erdington SA Band

1948 Birmingham Hockley SA band playing 2nd cornet, 2nd horn, 1st horn, Solo horn, Repiano cornet then Solo cornet.

1955 RAF West Kirby station band. After that I didn't play for 20 years until joining Coventry Festival Band (later to become Rolls Royce Coventry Band) on solo cornet, Repiano cornet, then Solo horn.

1993 Coventry CPA (City of Coventry Brass) on 1st Horn.

2001 Joined Dunchurch Band on Solo horn.

Favourite banding highlight(s):

Playing in the National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall.

Concert tour of Germany and Luxemburg.

Other hobbies and interests:

Caravanning, fishing, computing, crossword puzzles and of course banding.
